Over 6 years in 13 seconds! 💓 Here’s my 2019-2025 recap! This trend I couldn’t resist, the music just gets you 🥹 plus looking back at all the photos of my babes growing up 😭

I was going to do a review of fun number facts from this year - as it’s great this time of year to reflect on achievements and I love seeing all this. No shade to anyone else, I was so ready to get out my laptop and work this out too… aaaand then the cheese and wine were calling soooo here’s what I know and felt 👇

Sending love and thinking of those families who’ve experienced baby loss 🤍 @sandscharity It’s Baby Loss Awareness Week and we are proud to lead an alliance of over 130 charities that have come together in remembrance of all babies and to raise awareness of the issues around pregnancy and baby loss 💙🩷

This year, we want to encourage you to think about self-care in relation to your grief and healing. If you have struggled to look after yourself following your loss, we want to support you in starting to think about how self-care can improve your wellbeing.

There are lots of ways for you to get involved in the week from wearing a pink and blue pin, sharing social media posts, joining our Ribbon Run challenge to taking part in a local event or Ribbon Display.

The week will end with the Global #WaveofLight on Tuesday 15 October where we ask everyone to light a candle for 1 hour at 7pm in memory of our much-loved babies.

The charity lending library launched the other week ✨ lending out my books 📚(finally unpacked from my move a few years ago) and supporting good cause - a great way for you to dive deeper into the nuggets of wisdom shared in classes for birth preparation and motherhood! Unfortunately most of these books you won’t find in your local library. Knowledge is power and if you know me you know I’m a massive book worm book 📖 🐛 🩷 This is making these books and info accessible, seeing what resonates for you and if you like what you read you can buy your own copy and support the authors 🤗 For the next few months we’re raising money for @sandscharity

Especially as I have a fundamental belief that there is no one ‘right’ path for everyone.

Twenty years before anyone hashtagged #youdoyou, I was promoting that very idea to women and families.

One size doesn’t fit all.

You need to decide what’s right for you.

💩 Let’s talk 💩 Constipation in pregnancy - if you know, you know! In my second pregnancy I really struggled with this one 😬 Thanks to everything being squished internally and not working so great with all those hormones relaxing everything 😉 this movement helps to get the digestive system moving.

Tips for when it strikes:
✨ Got a toddler stool? Pop your feet on and give you a better pooping position on the loo 🤩
✨ Work with your breath, long exhales, relaxed jaw. Think birth breathing, great way to practice. Try not to hold breath and strain.
✨Talk to your midwife/dr if you need
✨ Drink more water water water (prune juice, coconut milk too!) I’m terrible for remembering this too!

💖 You’re welcome exactly as you are, and if baby cries please don’t worry. You might need to feed baby for some of class, and join in for 10mins here or there, there’s always something you can watch to do later or take a restorative pose to rest with baby.

I’m also a freelance graphics designer, home renovator DIYer, novice gardener and farmers wife (we don’t live on the farm but still!) the dramas! We moved from North Somerset to Salisbury Plain area about 2 years ago.

✨What a week! 😅 Happy Mother’s Day! ✨ Hope you’re being spoilt and able to take a moment of pause after a Big week of Budget, World Book day, International Women’s day - we need Mother’s Day! Some of the week’s themes have felt quite heavy (as an empath I feel things very deeply!) so it’s nice to have a moment of lightness to go into the week ahead.

In our hallway at home we have a imperfect art gallery of beautiful drawings our girls have created. We don’t have fancy frames, it’s just paper and tape stuck on the old wallpaper. They love seeing their art proudly displayed and it brightens the day to walk past ☀️ it acts as a reminder of simplicity of things, and what matters when life starts to feel overloaded.

I’m collecting them to make into memory books for them as they get older. Slight curation going on as otherwise they’d be tomes not books 🤣 #mothersday #mothersdaygift #whataweek

I’ve supported 1000s of families in their preparation for birth, with a focus on impartial, balanced, evidence based information and passed down wisdom.. the ‘what would I do’, isn’t important…

But if my best friend asked me for my personal birth tips, this would be them..

❤️If having a vaginal birth is important to you, move mountains to be able to do it at home.

❤️ If you want a planned caesarean, go have one, justify it to no one. If you don’t want a caesarean, be sure to still plan for one.

❤️If you’re deciding between buying the Snoo or having a doula, pick the doula.

❤️ Don’t have vaginal examinations unless there’s a bloody good reason. Same for induction. Most of the reasons they’re offered aren’t actually ‘bloody good’

❤️Just plan it. Learn the stuff. Honestly, trust me.

❤️ Birth is probably going to be the most incredible, hard, transformational and magical experience of your life. If it’s not, you can still tell me.

❤️ Don’t tell anyone your plans unless you know they’ll be supportive, it’s not worth your energy.

❤️ Stay in bed for 2 weeks after they’re born, you won’t regret it.

❤️ If you go over your estimated due date, stress is going to be pelted at you, let’s make a plan to keep you safe.

❤️ Trust what you’re feeling always, no one know what it feels like better than you.

❤️Make your postnatal prep about understanding babies. The whole world is going to make your think their normal behaviour is bad, it’s not.

Great informative post from @drsarawickham In modern Western culture, most women and families know about induction of labour before they even become pregnant.

They know that induction is suggested when it is felt that it would be safer for the baby to be born than to stay inside its mother.

Many people also know that one of the main reasons for recommending induction of labour is because pregnancy has lasted for a certain number of weeks and the baby is perceived to be ‘overdue.’

Other reasons for offering induction include that the woman is older than average, that her waters have broken early and/or that she has a health problem or condition.

These days, induction is often suggested where someone has a high BMI, or has been told they have gestational diabetes.

But aren’t necessarily evidence-based practices, as I write about in my books.

And there’s a big focus these days on telling women when they are deemed to be ‘at higher risk,’ but not so much on explaining the downsides and risks of interventions like induction.

There are pros and cons to everything!

Some people think induction is oversold.

Some are concerned about how a lot of the ‘official’ information is geared to promoting induction and doesn’t give the bigger picture.

There are many other aspects to the induction decision. That’s one of the reasons that I wrote my book, In Your Own Time.

✨ Seeking case studies ✨
I’ve recently been training in Birth Awareness 3 step process. And I’m looking for 2 case studies to complete my accreditation.

What is it?
The BA3SP is a relaxing guided meditation that runs over 3x 1hr sessions. It’s based in NLP, and it’s designed to unhook unwanted emotions from an experience whilst keeping the special memories and wisdom.

All sessions can take place over zoom. So you can work with me from anywhere from the comfort of your home.

It’s a very effective process, used for over 14 years by my teacher Mark Harris (Male midwife) and has been used as a tool to help war veterans with PTSD.

All you need to do at the end is complete an anonymous online questionnaire of 4 questions that go towards me completing my accreditation.

I’m offering the complete 3 session package at a reduced price of £30 (normally £155) to complete my studies.

✨ Seeking case studies ✨
I’ve recently been training in Birth Awareness 3 step process. And I’m looking for 2 case studies to complete my accreditation.

What is it?
The BA3SP is a relaxing guided meditation that runs over 3x 1hr sessions. It’s based in NLP, and it’s designed to unhook unwanted emotions from an experience whilst keeping the special memories and wisdom.

Sometimes, love is asking if you’ve remembered to take your vitamins or drunk enough water.

Love is a friend who checks in on you, even when you say you’re fine.

Love is a family member who worries you’re making the wrong choices, and that can often feel like anything but love, but the truth is, they live in fear of you getting hurt because they feel every inch of your pain along with you.

Love can come in all shapes and sizes but never does unconditional love look like an expensive gift or a romantic weekend away. That’s just frosting.
You’re more likely to find it in a cup of tea, made just for you.
Love is real and ugly and shouty sometimes.
Lots of tears and lots of pain as the people involved break and bond and grow together as humans.

Valentines Day should be about counting all the love you have in your world and giving gratitude for it - that may not look like a steak dinner for two...
and that’s okay.

If you are loved my friend, at all, you are blessed.
And if you have found some love for yourself along the way, then you are really winning at life.
That’s worth celebrating.

So important! Something we discussed in class this week 👇 Posted @withregram • @birth_ed Your clothing size does not determine your choices for birth.

“Most women with a high BMI have a straightforward pregnancy and have healthy babies.” (RCOG)

You might have a slightly higher rate of pregnancy complexities like gestational diabetes or high blood pressure, yes, but the VAST majority of plus size women do NOT develop these things.

BMI is not an objective measure of health.

You do not have to be weighed or have your BMI calculated at all if you do not wish. (BMI has a complex racist and sexist history as a measurement and was intended to be used on a population level not on individuals).

You do not have to give birth on a labour ward.

Induction is not indicated in an otherwise healthy pregnancy.

Continuous fetal heart rate monitoring is not recommended as standard.

But soooo frequently women report of their care that ‘all they see is fat’. The thread that underlies every conversation about their pregnancy and birth. That every conversation focuses on *risk, risk, risk* and not on the physiological processes that they are very likely to experience if it is well supported. Call me a cynic, but It makes you wonder if there was less focus on how ‘you’re more likely to ‘need’ intervention’ stressing you out at every appointment and better (less discriminatory) support.. maybe the rates of intervention would drop? 🧐

Let this post be your reminder.

Your body weight does not strip you of your autonomy.

It does not make your wishes and desires for birth any less important.

The only person who gets to make choices about your care is YOU.

You deserve to feel supported and centred in your pregnancy and birth.

Tell yourself this every single day if ANYONE has led you believe otherwise.

Look at this mum 🥹. Did you ever see such power and beauty and 🖕🏼 to a system that tries to take that from you? You have this. We all have this!
